Recent endeavors finishing an afghan, scarf, and hat.

Recently, I've been really busy making things for Christmas. Thus far, I've crossed two things off my list and made a couple of other things. I finally completed the afghan I was making.
This took me forever (about a month) to complete because it's final size is about 80"x85" which is large enough for a queen size bed.

I also completed a Yoshi scarf for a friend's daughter. This was an original creation, but it took me about a week to complete.
One side has Yoshi's head and the other has his feet.

The maroon strip down his back work as his spikes. They can either stand up or lay down.

The reversable shell stitch allows the green back and white underside to appear "scaly." Hey, he is a dinosaur after all! :)

The feet were probably the weirdest part of the whole thing.

I've also been working on a few things to add to my Etsy store. http://www.etsy.com/shop/KristinDragos?ref=pr_shop

I've completed an adult size hat.

I'm also working on a matching scarf, though it's not complete yet. :) Be back to post again soon!

The beginnings of an afghan and other stuff

Recently, I've been trying to think of things I could make for Christmas gifts this year. Last year I made scarves for a few people. This year, I'm hoping to get a jump start on the gifts to give me more time to make something bigger. I've found a pattern for an afghan that I think would work well for one of the gifts. Here's the start of it...

Another idea I had was flower pens. Ideally I'd get a small flower pot, fill it with beads, and put a few pens in it. I had plans to add leaves to the stems, but I'm not sure if it'd be too bulky. Thoughts? :)

Angry Birds

I came across the patterns for these, and I had to make them. :) How could you turn down some real life Angry Birds!?

Fun stuff...

I usually shy away from the patterns of plush dolls and such. Perhaps I didn't think I could do one successfully... well I guess I proved myself wrong. :)

Placemat and Coasters (and various coaster experiments)

Although it doesn't look like it in some of the pictures, all of these are made with the same black and sky blue yarn.

Tiny bag

Here's a tiny bag  from a pattern I found. It's supposed to be for wedding favors and the like. The green is supposed to be ribbon, but I didn't have any on hand when I made the bag. Nevertheless, you get the idea. :)

It's been quite some time since I've worked and finished my crochet projects. Needless to say I have a couple of larger things in the works. However, I have managed to work on a few smaller things.

This placemat is black with sky blue. I really like how the blue looks against the black! I'm currently working on a set of coasters in matching colors. :)

Shells Headband

I decided that I needed a break from the sweater that I'm making for something easier and quicker, so I made this shells headband.

My Etsy Shop

For those of you interested in buying any of my creations, I've created a shop on Etsy.

Feel free to browse. :) You can also email me if you'd like something in particular that I don't have listed on my Etsy shop.

Branching Out

Lately, I've been trying to find patterns for things that I wouldn't have thought of crocheting. I have been searching for smaller projects, unlike a blanket or sweater, that don't take days to make. Yesterday, I made a ball for my dog. She loves it so much that I had to make her a second one.

I also made a dishcloth with the same multicolored yarn.

Hair Stuff

I came across the patterns for these and thought I'd try them out. I really liked how they came out.
Hair ties. One in teal, the other's black.

Headband in black.

Lighter brown headband.
I'll have to keep playing with the headband pattern. I can see the potential for some interesting headbands.

Stripped Scarf

The stripped scarf I made for my husband. It's 5 inches thick and 7 feet long.

A close up of the stitches.

I made a variety of different scarves for Christmas gifts. Sadly, I didn't take pictures of them.

Mario Mushroom Hats

My video game addiction has lead me to the pattern for these Mario mushroom hats. The main hat color can be any color.
 Mario 1up mushroom.
Regular Mario mushroom.
